Apple makes it possible to create website shortcuts on your iPhone or iPad home screen that look just like all of your other apps. When you tap these shortcut links, they open to the associated website in Safari.
Now let's walk through the steps to add a website shortcut to your iPhone or iPad home screen.
Step 1. Tap to open the Safari app on your iPhone or iPad, and then navigate to the website you want to create a shortcut for.
Step 2. Tap the "Send To" icon along the bottom of the screen. The Send To icon features a box with an upward-pointing arrow on it. A menu flys up from the bottom of the screen.
Step 3. Swipe up on the menu to expand it, and then tap "Add to Home Screen." The Add to Home Screen screen appears.
Step 4. The icon that will appear on your home screen, a name for the website shortcut, and the URL will automatically populate. While you can't edit the icon or the URL, you can tap to change the name of the website shortcut icon. Tap "Add" after making any changes. Safari will close and you'll be taken to your iPhone or iPad home screen, where you'll see your newly-created shortcut icon has been added.
Now, going forward, when you tap the website shortcut icon, Safari will open to the website associated with that shortcut.
In this video I'll show you how to clear the cache for apps on your Android device.

If you've got a list of websites you visit regularly you can save yourself a few taps on your Android device by creating a shortcut to those sites on your device's home screen. Creating a shortcut on your Android home screen looks exactly like any other app, but when you tap it, it opens in a web browser. In this video I'll show you how to create website shortcuts using both Google Chrome and the Samsung Internet app.
First let's look at how to add a website shortcut to your Android home screen using Google Chrome.
Step 1. Launch Google Chrome and then navigate to the website you want to add a shortcut icon for on your Android device's home screen. In this example, I'll navigate to the CNBC website.
Step 2. Tap the vertical ellipses on the screen to open a menu, and then tap "Add to Home Screen" in the menu. The Add to Home Screen dialog box will be displayed. The Name field is editable, so change the name you want to be associated with the website shortcut icon if so desired. In this example, I'll shorten this name to CNBC. Tap "Add" in the dialog box when you're finished. Your new shortcut icon linking to this website will be added to your device's home screen. Tap the icon at any time to launch the site in your web browser.
Next let's walk through how to add a website shortcut to your Android home screen using the Samsung Internet app.
Step 1. Launch the Samsung Internet app and then navigate to the website you want to add a shortcut icon for on your Android device's home screen. In this example, I'll navigate to the CNBC website.
Step 2. Tap the "Menu" icon to open the browser's menu.
Step 3. Tap "Add Page To." The Add Current Web Page To menu is displayed. Tap "Home Screen" in this menu.
